Download 100 MB PDF file for testing
Open the single page and check document-upload behavior. The preset is 100 MiB (104,857,600 bytes); choose MB for decimal megabytes.
1 MB = 1,000,000 B · 1 MiB = 1,048,576 B
Advanced: test an upload limit
Enter the byte limit above, then choose one byte below, the exact limit or one byte above. Each choice uses the same base: 104,857,600 B. Generate and download each file to test your endpoint.
Where a 100 MB PDF comes up
- Checking that a document archive or e-discovery tool handles a 100 MB PDF without timing out.
- Testing a Google Form upload question set to its 100 MB option with a document instead of an image.
- Verifying that pre-commit hooks stop a large PDF before it reaches a Git repository.
Limits it lands on
- Cloudflare's Free and Pro plans limit request bodies to 100 MB (decimal), so the upload through a proxied site is refused with 413.
- GitHub blocks files larger than 100 MiB; this PDF is exactly at the threshold and therefore the right fixture for a push hook.
- Telegram bots cannot send it: their multipart upload limit is 50 MB.
What is inside the file
At this size the padding stream length gains a digit, so the structural part grows to 724 bytes and the padding stream is 104,856,876 bytes.
The file is not linearized ("fast web view"), and its xref table sits at the end. Therefore viewers need the end of the file before showing the page; this can matter when testing streaming viewers.
Questions
How long does a 100 MB PDF take to upload?
About 8.4 seconds at 100 Mbit/s and about 84 seconds at 10 Mbit/s, not counting protocol overhead.
Does it contain 100 MB of pages?
No. It has one page; the size comes from a filler stream that viewers do not render.
