Convert PDF to an Editable Word or PowerPoint File
Convert a PDF to an editable Word or PowerPoint file.
Uploaded securely over HTTPS for processing, then deleted automatically — the source file immediately, the result within 15 minutes or as soon as you download it, whichever comes first.
How to use
- Select a PDF file.
- Choose Word (.docx) or PowerPoint (.pptx) as the output.
- Click PDF to Office.
- Wait a few seconds while it converts on our server.
- Download the editable file.
Accepted formats
PDF files only.
Features
- Converts to Word (.docx) or PowerPoint (.pptx)
- Works best on text-heavy PDFs, where content maps cleanly to paragraphs
- Runs on the same server-side LibreOffice engine as Office to PDF
What happens to your file
The source PDF is deleted from the server immediately after conversion; the resulting file is deleted automatically after 15 minutes or as soon as it's downloaded, whichever comes first.
Known limitations
- Excel (.xlsx) output is not supported — LibreOffice cannot reliably reconstruct a spreadsheet from a PDF, so this direction is intentionally not offered.
- Tables, multi-column layouts and complex formatting may not carry over precisely — results are strongest on straightforward text documents.
- Converting to PowerPoint produces one slide of text per page, not editable shapes or the original slide layout.
- Scanned PDFs (images of text, not real text) are not OCR'd here — extracted output will be empty or unreliable; use Image to Text for scanned documents instead.
- This is server-side processing, not fully in-browser — see the privacy note on this page.
Common use cases
- Getting an editable draft from a PDF report
- Pulling text out of a PDF into Word for revisions
- Turning a PDF handout into a starting-point slide deck

Questions.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
PDF to Office is the one tool that runs on our server rather than in your browser, because the conversion engine it needs can't run in a browser tab. The file is uploaded over HTTPS, converted, and deleted immediately — see the privacy note on this page for the exact retention time.
What file types does this accept?
PDF to Office accepts PDF files.
Can I convert a PDF to Excel?
No — that direction isn't offered, since LibreOffice can't reliably rebuild a spreadsheet from a PDF's layout. It would produce a broken or empty file, so we don't offer it rather than pretend it works.
Will a scanned PDF convert to editable text?
Not with this tool — it doesn't perform OCR. For a scanned (image-based) PDF, use Image to Text instead, which does run OCR.
