Download 500 MB ZIP file for testing
Test ZIP upload and extraction at the preset byte size. The preset is 500 MiB (524,288,000 bytes); choose MB for decimal megabytes.
1 MB = 1,000,000 B · 1 MiB = 1,048,576 B
Advanced: test an upload limit
Enter the byte limit above, then choose one byte below, the exact limit or one byte above. Each choice uses the same base: 524,288,000 B. Generate and download each file to test your endpoint.
Where a 500 MB ZIP comes up
- Testing extraction pipelines and antivirus scanning time on a half-gigabyte archive.
- Uploading release artifacts or backups through size-limited forms.
- Checking archive libraries that switch to ZIP64 for large files.
Limits it lands on
- Classic ZIP stores sizes in 32 bits (up to 4 GB); this archive does not need ZIP64.
- GitHub release assets may be up to 2 GiB each, so this archive fits as a release download.
What is inside the file
Three entries: sample-1.txt, sample-2.txt and payload.bin. The payload is stored without compression, and every entry has a correct CRC-32 in the central directory.
Explorer, Finder, 7-Zip and unzip list and extract it.
