Where a 100 MB TXT comes up
- Finding line-length limits in log shippers, CSV readers and text editors.
- Checking upload limits at 100 MB with a file that any system can inspect.
- Testing whether gzip-compressed transfers or archive scanners respond correctly to a file with an extreme compression ratio.
Limits it lands on
- Go's bufio.Scanner stops with "token too long" on lines over 64 KiB by default; this file's fourth line is about 100 MB long.
- GitHub blocks files above 100 MiB, and Cloudflare Free and Pro plans refuse request bodies above 100 MB (decimal), so this file is a boundary case for both.
- gzip reduces it to about 102 KB (roughly 0.1%), which can trigger checks for a suspicious compression ratio.
What is inside the file
The first 77 bytes are two text lines and an empty line: "ByteRivet sample text file." and "Generated in the browser at an exact byte size."
The remaining 104,857,523 bytes are the letter x without a line break. The file contains only ASCII characters, so it is valid UTF-8.

Why does my editor freeze when opening it?
Most editors process a whole line at a time. Use a streaming tool such as head -c or a hex viewer to inspect it.
Can I get many short lines instead?
Use the CSV or JSON generator; they write real records on separate lines.
